10 Jobs That Only Exist in the Metaverse

The metaverse is a controversial concept but is already being adopted by many industries. With so many metaverse-based platforms cropping up, there is a need for employees to fill specific roles. But what jobs can only exist in the metaverse, and are they real yet?

1. Metaverse Events Managers

There are already scores of metaverse events taking place; be it auctions, concerts, stand-up shows, or otherwise. With events being such a key part of many metaverse platforms, someone is needed to schedule and organize them. Enter metaverse events managers.

A metaverse events manager will be responsible for securing metaverse locations for events and researching the locations beforehand. Events managers would also need to arrange attendee numbers, entertainment, admission fees, and other elements to ensure that virtual events go as smoothly as possible. An events manager may even recruit other virtual parties to help with security, technical aspects, and more.

Metaverse events managers already exist, though this profession may become more widely known if the metaverse increases in prevalence.

2. Metaverse Doctors

Who would’ve thought that one day we could access healthcare in the metaverse? Well, this may soon become a reality.

While accessing physical medications and treatments obviously won’t be possible within the metaverse, this doesn’t mean that accessing advice and support is out of the question. With today’s technology, it is possible to monitor many of your bodily metrics from home. By connecting this data to your avatar, a metaverse doctor could assess your health, make suggestions, and even book real-life appointments for further support.

While metaverse doctors are still conceptual, this role may have serious applications in the near future.

3. Metaverse Architects

Without metaverse architects, there wouldn’t be much to see in this virtual world. The metaverse doesn’t just consist of virtual avatars. Cafés, clubs, offices, concert halls, shops, and other buildings must also exist in the metaverse to make it worthwhile. And, where buildings are required, architects come in.

Of course, building a virtual structure is very different from building a physical structure. Gravity, weather, and material degradation are not factors that need to be considered by metaverse architects. But creating 3D models that avatars can interact with will be a priority for metaverse architects. Ironing out bugs and designing the exterior and interior will also fall on metaverse architects.

4. Metaverse Cybersecurity

As is the case with any technology, the metaverse can be exploited by cybercriminals. This is why adequate security personnel and measures must be implemented to minimize the chance ofmetaverse-based scams and attacks.

Metaverse cybersecurity jobs likely won’t involve virtual cybersecurity staff. Rather, this realm ensures that metaverse platforms and avatars are kept safe. For example, a metaverse-based social media outlet will need codes of conduct, login parameters, and recovery measures in the case of hacks or credential loss.

Metaverse cybersecurity staff may also need to deal with dangerous avatars that abuse, harass, or scam other users.

5. Metaverse Safety Managers

Though the metaverse doesn’t pose any immediate physical hazards, safety within this realm must still be considered. This is where metaverse safety managers come in.

A metaverse safety manager will be responsible for ensuring users' physical safety. For example, this role may involve checking if metaverse hardware, such as VR headsets, meets safety standards.

The virtual safety of metaverse users may also be a concern for safety managers, as well as cybersecurity personnel.

6. Metaverse Tour Guides

The metaverse will undoubtedly have some interesting places to visit. But how do you find these locations and learn about them? Enter metaverse tour guides.

A metaverse tour guide will take on the role of showing users around certain parts of the metaverse, such as buildings, monuments, and nature reserves. For instance, you may want to visit a virtual memorial or replica of a real-world monument. A metaverse tour guide could make this easier and more enjoyable.

Metaverse tour guides could also show new users how to navigate this virtual world, including how to access useful locations.

7. Metaverse Real Estate Agents

Virtual land within the metaverse already has value, withmetaverse platforms like Decentralandoffering users the ability tobuy and build virtual property. And, when land is being purchased, real estate agents are usually part of the equation.

A metaverse real estate agent would be responsible for buying and selling virtual land. This involves valuing land, finding buyers, and getting sellers the best price. Metaverse real estate agents will also likely charge a fee for their work or take a cut of the seller’s profit as payment.

A metaverse real estate agent may also need to assess virtual land (i.e., its size, contents, etc.) before conducting a sale.

8. Metaverse Stylists

Because each metaverse user will have their own avatar, it’s no surprise that metaverse stylists may one day be a big deal. As is the case in the real world, the clothes we choose to present ourselves in have become massively important parts of our lives.

In the metaverse, users will likely also want to express themselves through fashion, and stylists could provide support in this area. For example, making clothing suggestions, shopping for users, or even researching current fashion trends for clients could all form part of a metaverse stylist’s role.

9. Metaverse Influencers

Online influencers are already hugely prevalent on social media. But the metaverse may take this one step further by giving influencers the ability to present themselves as avatars.

Because virtual influencers exist within a virtual space, they can interact with their fans and followers in a much safer environment. Cutting out the risk of physical harm makes meetups, concerts, and other public events less of a worry for influencers.

10. Metaverse Stewards

Within the metaverse, staff will be needed to take tickets at doors, direct users to the correct location, take simple queries and essentially make the metaverse experience easier for participants.

Metaverse stewards could be a huge help here. Such personnel could form an inherent part of the metaverse, helping users with small, day-to-day things. This could also provide a stable job for those who aren’t massively experienced in technology but know how to provide good customer service.

The Metaverse May Provide Job Opportunities

If the metaverse becomes mainstream in the coming years, we may see many of the above jobs become popular options for those interested in tech. In fact, we may see even more unusual, metaverse-based jobs pop up in the near future as adoption and innovation continue.
