1. Take a Photo
The easiest way to get a contact picture for a friend or family member is totake a picture of them with your iPhone. This is done by tapping theAdd Phototext under the photo area of the contact. Choose the camera icon to access your iPhone’s camera and take the picture..
The contact’s picture will update across all of your devices, including your Mac, via iCloud. If your photo is already on your Mac, you can hover over the default contact icon in the Contacts app and clickEdit. Then, choose selectPhotosfrom the sub-menu and choose the picture you like.

If the photo is in a location like your Desktop or Downloads folder, you can also drag that photo onto the contact’s icon to import it. But what about the people in your contact list who you may not have access to in order to take a photo? You can use the other methods below.
2. Use Social Media
Social media is a great source for finding pictures for your contacts. If you’re on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, you already have a database of your friend’s photos at your disposal. Your friends on social media have already picked a profile picture that they feel best represents them, so all you have to do is bring that picture into your contact.
Open a social media website on your Mac in one window and the Contacts app in another window. Now, select the contact you need to change the picture for. Assuming you have these two windows side-by-side, which requires Stage Manager to be disabled from the Control Center, here’s what you need to do:

Click and hold the picture on the social media platform and drag it into the contact’s icon to import the picture into the Contacts app. Note that some platforms may not let you do this; for example, Facebook allows you to do so, but not Instagram. So, it depends on the site you’re using.
The Contacts app allows you to center the photo and resize it by zooming in and out. You have to do nothing to save it; your changes will automatically update across all your devices until you decide to change it.

3. Use Memojis, Emojis, and More
You are not limited to photos in Contacts. You can also add emojis, monograms, and evenMemojis you’ve createdto a contact.
Hover the cursor over the contact icon, clickEdit, and choose one of your preferred options in the sub-menu. And when you’re done, click onSaveto make your changes.

4. Make Use of Web Graphics
Almost any web graphic can be used for a contact picture. This can be handy when it comes to adding pictures for businesses or adding logos. Control-click (or secondary click) on a web image to save it to your desktop and then import the image into your contact.
If an image cannot be saved, trytaking a screenshot of it on your Mac. Square images work best, but a perfectly square image is not necessary, as you can center it afterward.
