Snoozing notifications on your Android phone gives you a brief respite from distracting notifications. You canmute notifications for individual apps, but snoozing notifications means you won’t miss time-sensitive emails or messages.
We walk you through how to snooze notifications on Android. We use a phone running Android 14 for this guide, but you can snooze notificationson any of our favorite Android tabletsor an older device running Android 8 or newer by following the same steps.

What is notification snoozing, and how can you tell what it does?
Snoozing notifications doesn’t mute all notifications from an app. Instead, the snooze function applies to the selectedNotificationchannelwithin each app. For example, if you have two email accounts on your Gmail app and snooze an email arriving at one account, you are still notified of emails arriving at the other account. This is because each Gmail account has its own notification channel for new emails. The developer of each app determines the channel, so their usage varies.
Here’s how to check what notification channels an app uses:
Each notification channel can be turned off individually. Tapping each one brings up more options for controlling things like vibration and popping up on the screen. You can control what alerts you receive from this screen.
Some apps have several channels, and some only have one. If there’s only one channel, controlling notifications is simpler. If there are multiple channels, take a minute to study them and figure out which notifications each channel represents.
How to snooze notifications on Google Pixel phones (and other stock Android devices)
Phones produced by Google, Motorola, Nokia, Sony, and Asus run a version of Android close to the stock version. You can follow these steps for phones from these manufacturers.
