Summary

DevoutBaldur’s Gate 3players are likely very familiar with the unfortunate story of Bing Bong sothose who want to give the beloved imp a second chance can now do so with this improved mod. While he may not be a character that actually appears in Larian Studios' RPG, Bing Bong has become somewhat of an unofficial mascot forBaldur’s Gate 3thanks to a memorable performance by the game’s cast during an actual-playDungeons & Dragonsperformance before launch. His fate may have been tragic, but fans have never forgotten him.

Over on Nexus Mods, creatorrobogenashared their upgraded version of the “Bing Bong Summon” mod which features a number of quality-of-life improvements to make the imp even more of an asset in combat. These include the introduction of level scaling, new skills, passives, and some combat utilitiesto ensure that Bing Bong is able to better protect his best friend Shadowheart. Leveling up grants Bing Bong more health, attack roll buffs, and proficiency bonuses, while also ensuring that he deals more fire damage whenever he’s hurled at an enemy.

D&D’s 2024 Player’s Handbook Was Influenced By Things The Team Didn’t Like In Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a shining example of just how fun Dungeons & Dragons can be, but its weaknesses are what’s inspiring new Player’s Handbook changes.

Who Is Bing Bong In Baldur’s Gate 3?

The Imp Is A Mascot And A Martyr

TheBaldur’s Gate 3community was quick to latch onto the dynamic, especiallyShadowheart’s fondness for the tiny imp, but he didn’t last long. In the heat of battle,Lae’zel grabbed Bing Bong and threw him at a boss encounter, killing him in the process. A tragic moment that will be forever immortalized by robogena thanks to its careful and hilarious implementation in the “Better Bing Bong” mod.

While Bing Bong may officially appear inBaldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios at least understood how much the game’s player base came to adore the imp. In a post-launch update, the team patched in a brief interaction between Lae’zel and Shadowheart where the Cleric recalls Bing Bong’s death, officially making the creature canon. Since that’s the case, it onlymakes sense to install “Better Bing Bong,“as long as players just treat the summon as a temporary resurrection.
