Summary

For nearly a year now,Boruto: Naruto Next Generationshas been embroiled in a rebranding of its story calledBoruto: Two Blue Vortex. The series is essentiallyBoruto’s equivalent toNaruto: Shippudenin that, following a timeskip, the cast ofBoruto, now older, wiser, and stronger, are all thrown into even bigger battles as they’re all trusted with the fate of the world and more adult responsibilities, overall.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortexis set to be the status quo of theNarutofranchisefor the foreseeable future, and that begs whether it will receive an anime.Narutohas been an iconic part of anime for over 20 years; it has always been running during that time in one form or another, and even with theBorutoanime on hiatus,it’s easy to assume thatBoruto: Two Blue Vortexwill get an anime at some point.

When and how that would play out is unknown, but what little information is available is still plenty worth cataloging.

Boruto’s Anime Will Return, But Two Blue Vortex Is Unconfirmed

When will Boruto: Two Blue Vortex be animated?

Shortly after theBoruto: Naruto Next Generationsanimewent on hiatus, it was announced that it would return in the future, although a release date hasn’t been given over a year since the anime went on hiatus. Once the anime does return, though, it’s sure to continue with the next arc of the manga that saw Code continue to gain power and Kawaki fully turn against Boruto. That, of course, means thatthe next arc ofBoruto: Naruto Next Generationswill be the natural segway into aBoruto: Two Blue Vortexanime, and that’s sure to be great to see.

That being said,Boruto: Naruto Next Generationsreturning doesn’t necessarily meanBoruto: Two Blue Vortexwill follow it. The only thing that was stated afterBoruto: Naruto Next Generations’ finale was that a second part was in development, but that doesn’t necessarily refer toTwo Blue Vortex, so at the time of writing, there’s still no confirmation thatBoruto: Two Blue Vortexwill receive an anime. With how big a franchiseNarutois, it would be strange ifTwo Blue Vortexdidn’t receive an anime at some point, but as of now, it’s hard to say when that will happen.

Image of Boruto and Kawaki’s faces placed side by side to each other. Boruto’s side being blue with his glowing eye and scratched Ninja headband. Kawaki’s side with red and his glowing yellow eye.

As for why there hasn’t been any confirmation thatBoruto: Two Blue Vortexhasn’t received an anime yet, that’s likely because of how recent the story is. The manga has only been running for a little under a year, so there’s naturally been very little content so far, and as such,Boruto: Two Blue Vortexprobably won’t receive an anime adaptation until the story is further along. Doing so would help avoid the constant stream of anime-original stories that made the first anime contentious, so that would probably be an ideal way of handling things.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Cast Details

The cast of a hypothetical Two Blue Vortex anime

IfBoruto: Two Blue Vortexdoes receive an anime, thenthe principal voice cast ofBoruto: Naruto Next Generationswill all presumably reprise their roles in the anime. That would include Yuko Sanpei as Boruto, Kokoro Kikuchi as Sarada, Yuma Uchida as Kawaki, Daisuke Namikawa as Momoshiki, Junta Terashima as Code, and Kana Hanazawa as Ada. The anime would also continue to include major voice actors fromNaruto, such as Junko Takeuchi as Naruto, Noriaki Sugiyama as Sasuke, Chie Nakamura as Sakura, Kazuhiko Inoue as Kakashi, Showtaro Morikubo as Shikamaru, and Hidenori Takahashi as Konohamaru.

SinceTwo Blue Vortexopens with a timeskip, Shinya Hamazoe will likely reprise his role as an adult Kawaki at some point, and most importantly, a hypothetical anime will need voice actors forthe God Trees. Since the God Trees all resemble the people they’ve absorbed, that meansthe God Trees would likely have the same voice actors for pre-establishedNarutoandBorutocharacters, meaning Jura would be voiced by Jigen’s Kenjiro Tsuda, Hidari Sasuke’s Noriaki Sugiyama, Matsuri Moegi’s Noriko Shitaya, and the God Tree resembling Bug would be voiced by Takumi Yamazaki.
