Dexter: Original Sin’s first images have now been shared, showing off a look at the show’s young Morgan family. The story ofMichael C. Hall’s Dextermay have come to an end withDexter: New Bloodin 2021, but a younger version of the character is now set to return in a new Showtime prequel series. The show, which hails from original series creator Clyde Phillips, catches up with a young Dexter, played by Patrick Gibson, as he joins Miami Metro as an intern while dealing with his dark desires.

The Cast Was A Major Reason For Dexter’s Success
Dexter’s season 8 finalemay have been infamously divisive, but the earlier seasons of the show were gripping and darkly comedic in a way that few other shows could match. Much of the reason why the show worked, in addition to strong writing, was its cast.Hall as Dexter, especially, is a core reason behindDexter’s success, and the show is really told entirely from his unique point of view. Hall, as Dexter, could be both intimidating and scary, but his performance also included a lot of awkward humor.

Gibson, then, has a challenging job ahead of him as thestar ofDexter: Original Sin. The actor does have several credits that suggest he will be able to pull it off, however, including projects likeThe OA,Shadow and Bone, andTolkien, but he’s never been the star of a show quite likeDexter: Original Sinbefore. The same can largely be said for Brown, who has had roles in shows likeEvilandBillions, but hasn’t really done a Deb-like role before.
Slater is the actor with the most experience of the three, and it certainly seems likeDexter: Original Sinwill be capitalizing on this by making Harry and his cop career a more prominent part of the narrative. Other recastings include Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta, James Martinez as Angel Batista, and Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, and all will also be crucial to get right in order for the show to succeed.Dexter: Original Sincertainly faces some challenges, but the first images are a promising sign.
