Summary

Fast & Furious 11needs to give Tess a more important role than what she got inFast X, especially considering her connection to the greater lore of the franchise. Played by Brie Larson, Tess was one of the many additions to the series inFast X. The agent had a minor but important role to play in the film, eventually getting removed from the action ofthe ending ofFast X. However, the film also took the time to set up her true motivations, which fuse a thematic throughline of the series with one of its most mysterious characters.

The fact that Tess was more or less removed from the plot ofFast Xafter setting her up her importance was a flaw of the overstuffed but entertaining blockbuster, and something the next (and seemingly final) film in the series needs to amend. It would allow Tess to realize her full potential, especially since she already has the perfect adversary to confront along the way. Tess' big reveal inFast Xshould make her a key figure inFast & Furious 11’s cast.

Fast & Furious 11 Bringing Back This Missing Character Can Only Happen Under 1 Condition

A recent social media post from Vin Diesel may be a hint that one Fast and Furious cast member is returning, but there’s only one way it will work.

Fast X Underutilized Tess Despite Reveal That She’s Mr. Nobody’s Daughter

Tess Deserves More Focus Than WhatFast XGave Her

Fast Xrevealed Tess was Mr. Nobody’s daughter but didn’t use her to her full potential, a mistake the upcomingFast & Furious 11needs to amend. Tess is introduced inFast Xas a new hero and could evenreplace Dom in the franchise’s future. With Mr. Nobody missing, Tess proved to be a reliable alternative. However, after helping Libby and briefly fighting alongside Dom, Tess is shot by a sniper and taken to a hospital. She’s more or less removed from the plot as a result of this, despite the hunt for her family being reflective of the series' throughlines as a whole.

Tess being Mr. Nobody’s daughter set her up to serve as a heir apparent to her Dad’s role, even allowing her to initially showcase some combat skills of her own. Unfortunately, the character was shifted to the sidelinesahead of the explosive cliffhanger of the film. Considering Aimes' villainous turn and the series' focus on families saving one another, Tess being relegated to the sidelines feels like a wasted opportunity. However, she may get her chance to shine in the upcomingFast & Furious 11, which needs to resolve many lingering franchise threads.

Fast & Furious 11 Ending The Franchise Means It Can’t Ignore Brian O’Connor Any Longer

Fast & Furious is ending with Fast X: Part 2, meaning the Fast Saga will have to find a sensible way of adding Brian O’Conner into the story.

Fast X Set Up A Better Story For Brie Larson In Fast & Furious 11

Fast X’s introduction of a power struggling within the organizations moving behind the scenes sets up a larger scope forFast & Furious 11. Dante having allies like Aimes could make his plans for revenge far more deadly and far-reaching.Tess discovering the truth and going to confront him would be a satisfying thread for the character, especially if she got the chance to reunite with her father along the way. Tess could appear alongside Daniela Melchio’s Isabel Neves, who was also sidelined before the climax ofFast X, and provide crucial back-up to Toretto’s crew.

Fast & Furious 11is set to close out the franchise for the time being, andit can’t leave interesting characters like Tess hanging in the wind. Her connections and skills should hopefully make her crucial in countering whatever schemes Dante and Aimes have set in motion. She has a natural foe in Aimes, a family member in trouble with Mr. Nobody, and plenty of openings to rejoin the fight given she escaped the chaos ofFast X’s finale. This all sets up Tess to have a more important role inFast & Furious 11.
