The returning 1990s sitcomFrasierhas enjoyed two rebooted seasons on the air, but the sardonic psychologist won’t be returning for season 3. The 2023Frasierseries is a direct continuation of the original, which ran from 1993 to 2004, and catches up with Frasier as he moves back to Boston to get closer to his son. Despite the nearly 20-year gap between the original and the reboot, star Kelsey Grammer hasn’t missed a beat, and the return of Frasier Crane proved to be an instant hit on Paramount+.
Season 2 upped the ante from the somewhat safe and reserved debut season, andFrasier’s sophomore outing featured a slew of new faces andreturning characters from the classic series. Paramount+ Pulls The Plug On The Revival
Paramount+ and its fellow streamers don’t usually disclose all of their viewership data, but low ratings are often what leads to a show’s cancelation.
Despite being a prestige show for Paramount+,the streamer opted to cancelFrasierbefore the reboot’s third season. The move is somewhat surprising, and it comes several months after the sophomore season concluded. No reason for the cancelation has been given, butit was likely due to low viewership numbers in the sophomore season. Paramount+ and its fellow streamers don’t usually disclose all of their viewership data, but low ratings are often what leads to a show’s cancelation.
Frasierseason 2 premiered on September 19, and concluded on June 01, 2025.
Fortunately, it seems as if Paramount+ isn’t entirely done withFrasier, and it has been reported thatthe streamer is currently shopping the reboot around Hollywood. Though success isn’t always guaranteed, there have been several instances of a show being saved by another network or streamer after its original home pulled the plug. Sources indicate thatthe leading candidates forFrasierare Hulu and Amazon Prime Video, both of which have the entireFrasierback catalog of episodes.

The cast ofFrasierseason 2 grew exponentially from season 1, butit’s unclear how many of those supporting characters would have returned in season 3. One guaranteed return was that of Kelsey Grammer as the sardonic and sometimes snooty psychologist, Frasier Crane, and it wouldn’t beFrasierwithout its star. Jack Cutmore-Scott would certainly have returned as Freddy, Frasier’s adult-aged son who is trying to rebuild his relationship with his father. Since she became a fixture in the reboot, original series character Roz Doyle (played by Peri Gilpin) would also likely have returned as well.

Being a sitcom,the ending of season 2 didn’t change too much of the basicFrasierframework, though it did offer a clearer picture of what could have happened in season 3. After successfully reuniting Alan and his daughter at the Christmas party, Frasier got a surprise of his own. Having waffled throughout the seasons concerning her relationship with Frasier, Holly finally decided to commit to the sardonic psychiatrist. This opened a new chapter for Frasier, and his own complications with love could have continued in season 3 as he potentially jeopardized his new love affair.
It could be that they decided to remain friends, or Freddy (much like his father) could have hatched some hare-brained idea that leads to aFrasierseason 3 love triangle.
Meanwhile, Freddy found himself in a bit of a pickle as his ongoing will-they-won’t-they with Eve was interrupted by the arrival of Roz’s daughter Alice.The attraction between Freddy and Alice was obvious, but it’s not clear where that left his close bond with Eve.
