Summary
Following on from thesuccessful release ofElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree,a recent job listing posted by beloved developerFromSoftwaremay hint at the studio’s next major project. Having waited two years for theElden RingDLC to finally arrive, fans are already speculating on what could be next for the acclaimed team known for creating the “Soulslike” genre. While nothing has yet to be officially announced, it seems that FromSoftware could be returning to a previous franchise for its next big release, and mech enthusiasts will undoubtedly be pleased.
PerGame Rant, the aforementioned listing, which has now been deleted, noted thatFromSoftware was actively looking to recruit a “character modeler” who would focus on “modeling, texturing, rigging, and animating characters or robots.“Given that the post specifically calls out robots, the current hypothesis amongst the community is that either anotherArmored Coreis in development or a long-awaited expansion forArmored Core 6could be in the works. Nothing has yet been confirmed so as is always with the case with reports and rumors, a pinch of salt is recommended.

One Enemy Proves Armored Core 6 Really Is A Souls Game
Armored Core 6 is very different in nature from the Dark Souls game, but one FromSoft touch ties everything together in a memorable way.
Could Armored Core 7 Actually Happen?
It Could Be A Refreshing Change Of Pace
While FromSoftware is arguably more known for itsDark Soulsseries and the subsequent spiritual successors likeSekiro: Shadows Die TwiceandElden Ring, the studio originally cut its teeth with theArmored Coreseries. Dating all the way back to the PlayStation One, many assumed that the rise of the Soulslike genre meant there was little room for the studio to return to giant mech battles. Fortunately, the launch ofArmored Core 6in 2023 proved audiences wrong as the game received glowing reviewsfromcritics, veterans, and franchise newcomers.
DespiteArmored Core 6’s success, many were quick to request some kind of DLC package that expands onthe game’s mech customization system. There’s already a wealth of parts to unlock and equip but building uponFires of Rubicon’s narrative while also including additional extras to make more outlandish mech suits would go a long way to satisfying the player base. Having said that,it’s doubtful anyone would turn their nose up atArmored Core 7if that is on the cards.

GivenFromSoftware’s efforts in resurrecting its oldest franchise, it’s certainly not hard to imagine the studio making another mainline entry in the mech series.Yet that doesn’t mean the developer couldn’t surprise everyone by releasing yet another original IP that’s distinct fromArmored Core.Only time will tell what fans can expectfrom one of the most exciting teams working in the industry today.
