Summary

One of the most beloved characters fromHonkai: Star Railmay be the first to get a skin, according to a new Version 2.4 leak. For now, the characters in HoYoverse’s turn-based RPG are stuck with their regular outfits and are unable to use custom clothes like in other titles from the developer, such asGenshin ImpactorHonkai Impact 3rd. For a while now, there have been rumors aboutleaked character skins inHonkai: Star Rail, though HoYoverse has shown little indication if that may become true. Now, rumors have started circulating again and these leaks may be true.

According to information obtained by the leaker known as HomDGCat, which was then shared in a post tagged as “Questionable” onReddit,Kafka’s rumored skin may be arriving soon. As stated in the leak, a placeholder for her alleged skin name was added to the game via the Version 2.4 beta, which hints at Kafka being the first to receive a skin. Even though the technical addition of the placeholder took place in the Version 2.4 beta, the arrival of the skin is expected to occur starting in Version 2.5 or a later update inHonkai: Star Rail.

Pulling for Jade or Argenti in Honkai: Star Rail 2.3 banners can be complicated. Here are both of their pros and cons to make an informed decision.

Kafka’s New Skin In Honkai: Star Rail May Arrive After Version 2.5

The Cosmetic Item’s Leak Suggests The 5-Star Character May Rerun Soon

As was mentioned by the leaker, Kafka’s skin is unlikely to actually be released in Version 2.4, as most of the upcoming patch’s contents have already been leaked and players would have some visual asset leak by now. So far, the alleged skins’ placeholder name was included in the game’s coding, hinting at a possible release after the next patch. Initially,Kafka’s rumored skin was leaked alongside a new outfit for March 7th. The 4-star character, however, is getting a new form inHonkai: Star Railand the outfit is connected directly to this new form.

While there have already been multiple instances in which Kafka’s new skin has been leaked, there have not been any details about how this outfit will look. If the leak is accurate, however,Kafka may truly be the first character to have an official skin, as opposed to characters with various forms. Dan Heng technically has another look via Imbibitor Lunae, though that is counted as a separate character. March 7th’s new outfit is also directly linked to her new Hunt form, so it is less of a cosmetic option inHonkai: Star Railand more of a gameplay feature.

As was suggested by comments in the Reddit post, the new Kafka form may also be connected to the character’s rerun in limited-time banners. The 5-star Nihility character’s last appearance was in banners at the start of 2024 and preceded Black Swan’s debut. With a Black Swan rerun rumored to occur in Version 2.4,the speculation of a Kafka rerun in Version 2.5 does not sound too absurd, especially considering how connected these characters are in DoT team comps. Of course, the release of a skin does not necessarily bring forth a rerun, as logical as it would seem.

InGenshin Impact4.4, Ganyu and Shenhe both gained new skins. Ganyu’s last appearance in banners was in Version 3.6, while Shenhe was in 3.5 – neither of them reran during the patch or after.

For now, these leaks should be taken with a degree of caution, as details may be incorrect or subject to change. Skins are a great way of monetization and it would be no surprise that characters would soon receive them. They may, however, be pushed back while HoYoverse experiments and gets the game ready to have its playable units in combat with alternative looks. Thenew March 7th form inHonkai: Star Railmay be the test run when it comes to giving players the leeway to change a character’s outfit on the go, potentially succeeded by Kafka.
