Summary
First images and details have been released aboutStar Wars’newest upcoming show,Skeleton Crew, but Lucasfilm kept the most arbitrary thing a secret, which makes no sense. For a long time, audiences haven’t had much information aboutSkeleton Crew, despite the fact that it wrapped filming a year and a half ago. While I certainly look forward to the show, asSkeleton Crewis led by MCUSpider-Mandirector Jon Watts, I can’t understand some of the decisions that theStar Warsfranchise has made regarding the show.
When discussing a major franchise likeStar Wars, there are absolutely things that must be kept secret to get the audience reaction the studio is looking for.The Empire Strikes Backwouldn’t have been nearly as groundbreaking if it had been leaked that Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker’s father;Star Warsrelies on plot devices like plot twists to keep their audiences engaged. So, when the name ofJude Law’s Jedi character inSkeleton Crewwas withheld for so long, it was assumed that there would be a big reveal about this character and his origins - but there wasn’t.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew: Cast, Story & Everything We Know
The upcoming live-action TV show, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, looks to be a fascinatingly unique Disney+ show. Here’s what’s known about it so far.
Star Wars' Secrecy Makes Viewers Expect Major Twists
There’s No Point in Withholding Non-Spoiler Information
Along with the release of photos fromSkeletonCrewcame the reveal of Jude Law’s character name: Jod Na Nawood. For many months, I was left puzzled over who Jude Law’s character would be—maybe a connection to fan favorite Jedi fromThe Clone Warsera—but so far, there’s no indication of that. In fact, it seems that Law’s character has no discernible meaning or history inStar Warscanon or Legends. It’s odd that Jod Na Nawood’s name was withheld for so long when there was no risk of spoiling any of the plot.
Star Warshas always been about big twists, and this was one I was expecting. With new older Jedi likeBaylan Skollbeing introduced in shows likeAhsoka, I was interested to see what twists were in store for fans inSkeleton Crew. While it’s generally known how manyJedi survived Order 66, introducing a new Jedi is a risky move that may not pay off in terms of keeping viewers guessing. Having just introduced a former Jedi in Baylan Skoll, Jod Na Nawood may not live up to the precedent set by the late Ray Stevenson.

Skeleton Crewwill take place around the same time asThe MandalorianandAhsoka.
Baylan Skoll
A mysterious and enigmatic Jedi Master, Baylan Skoll survived Order 66 and took on Shin Hati as his apprentice. He operated in the galaxy’s shadows for years, only emerging when he took on an assignment for the Imperial Morgan Elsbeth - a mission that took him to the distant planet Peridea. There, he continues to advance his own mysterious agenda.
The Results Are As Frustrating As A Captain America Post-Credits Scene
Patience Is A Virtue—But At What Cost?
InSpider-Man: Homecoming, Jon Watts had a post-credit scene featuring Captain America discussing patience. The scene had no major impact moving forward and, while it’s fun to look back on it now, it was truly frustrating when it debuted. The reveal of Jod Na Nawood’s name feels similar. It’s irritating that we didn’t have information, butperhaps Jon Watts is simply trying to impose a sense of patience onStar Warsfans as he did MCU fans. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see what Jude Law brings to the table as the Jedi Jod Na Nawood inSkeleton Crew.
