Speaking toTheWrap, showrunner Rolin Jones confirmed thatInterview with the Vampireseason 3 will dive into certain elements of “the Devil’s Minion” storyline, while adapting its timeline. This fan-favorite chapter of 1988’sQueen of the Damnedwas one of the most sexually explicit and queer parts ofThe Vampire Chronicles, pairing Armand and Daniel. I love how the show brought out queer elements of the novel that Rice may have too, had she been writing in 2022, as opposed to the 1970s. As such, I can’t wait to see where the show takes the already outrageous “Devil’s Minion” plotline.

I’m sure this sewed the seeds of a deepening intrigue between the two, however complicated and difficult. This makes sense considering Jones confirmed toTheWrapthat season 3 will dive into how Armand turned Daniel.
While Armand remained a main character throughoutThe Vampire Chronicles,Daniel had a bigger role in the show than he had in the books and is only just “revving up"for future seasons, in Bogosian’s words toScreen Rant. This bodes well for Armand and Daniel’s blossoming romance in the show, allowing the show to further investigate the canonical thread introduced already in season 2 - Armand’s turning of Daniel saved his life. The showrunners will have to change “the Devil’s Minion” timeline in upcoming seasons to fit seasons 1 and 2, and to create a show with forward-action and TV-friendly pacing, but they should keep up their habit of retaining what was important about Anne Rice’s stories. Judging from seasons 1 and 2, I’m not particularly concerned, butI do wonder how things will work out for Armand and Daniel.One intriguing comment from Jones makes me wonder if the show may not be altering the book’s timeline or story as much as it seems.
