Warning! Spoilers for Cobra Kai season 6, part 2 ahead!
Johnny Lawrence finally got a chance to redeem himself inCobra Kaiseason 6 after losing an important battle back in season 4. ThisKarate Kidvillain has undoubtedly come a long way since 1984, and the final installment in the spinoff series continues to see development for his character. Johnny is learning a lot about the balance between offense and defense, blending the ways of Cobra Kai he grew up on and Daniel LaRusso’s Miyagi-Do. This has allowed him to come off better in a rematch against one of his greatest foes inCobra Kaiseason 6, which is incredibly satisfying given his devistating loss.
Theending ofCobra Kaiseason 6, part 2, saw all hell break loose at the Sekai Taikai. The tournament was proceeding through its final round when a sensei from a dojo that had been disqualified for cheating made his attack. This prompted a multi-dojo battle, and Terry Silver and John Kreese took advantage of the chaos to settle their own score. Just as Silver was about to put an end to Kreese for good, Johnny jumped in to save the day. From there,Silver and Johnny faced off—afight thatCobra Kaifans had been waiting for since way back in season 4.

Johnny Lawrence Lost To Terry Silver In Cobra Kai Season 4
Terry Silver Made Pretty Easy Work Of Johnny Back In The Day
InCobra Kaiseason 4, episode 8, “Party Time,“Terry Silver and John Kreese(back when they were still working together) lured Johnny to the original Cobra Kai venue. The moment that Johnny entered the place, Silver delivered a cheap kick to the former Cobra Kai golden boy’s head. Johnny was disoriented for the rest of the match, which meant he really didn’t stand a chance against Silver. Sure, he applied some of the defensive moves he had learned, butJohnny was still far from his best.
The only reason Johnny wasn’t worse off was because John Kreese pulled in the reins on his partner, thus beginning the slow build-up of their own falling out. Johnny was left struggling to maintain consciousness on the old dojo floor. A couple of seasons later, Johnny still hadn’t had a chance to settle the score. Daniel got a big moment to face off with Terry Silver at the end ofCobra Kaiseason 5, but Johnny himself was off fighting the villain’s cronies. Thankfully,Cobra Kaiseason 6 has finally given him a chance to set things right.

Johnny Redeems Himself & Beats Terry Silver In Cobra Kai Season 6
Johnny Proved He Could Beat Terry Silver Too
Not only does Johnny beatTerry Silver inCobra Kaiseason 6, episode 10, “Eunjangdo,” but the way his fight with Silver was set up was a perfect reflection of his big season 4 fight. This time around, Johnny had the element of surprise on his side, andhe jumped out and delivered a kick to Silver’s head just like the man had once done to him. Johnny even said, “I owed you one,” referencing that moment fromCobra Kaiseason 4.
From there, Johnny gave Silver a pretty definitive beating. Disoriented by his blow to the head, theCobra Kaivillain was wholly unable to defend himself against Johnny’s attacks. The only reason Silver wasn’t left unconscious on the ground like Johnny was after his season 4 fight is that Kwon’s scream of pain after being stabbed by the Eunjangdo distracted the men from their fight.

What Did Johnny Learn From His First Loss?
Johnny Has Embraced A Greater Balance Since Cobra Kai Season 4
Johnny has always been a good fighter but has consistently had one significant weakness. He rushes into his attacks—thanks to his hot temper and Cobra Kai training—and this leaves him vulnerable to the types of counter moves like Daniel used in the 1984 All-Valley Tournament. In the case of Johnny’s fight with Silver inCobra Kaiseason 4,he rushed right into the old dojo because he was so angry at Silver and Kreese. He didn’t consider that this was a very obvious trap and that one kick to the head was enough to make any victory after that impossible.
Johnny has always been a good fighter but has consistently had one significant weakness.
Getting kicked in the head is a rather frustrating trend for Johnny, so it was highly satisfying that he had a chance to return the favor to Terry Silver. Still,Johnny wouldn’t have had the opportunity to do this if he had rushed into the fightbetween Kreese and Silver. He approached the situation carefully and quietly, and the match was in the bag from that point forward. Such restraint has been a hard-earned skill forJohnny throughoutCobra Kai’s story. However, with the help of Daniel and his students, thisKarate Kidvillain has managed to find a far more effective balance.
Cobra Kai season 6, part 3, releases on Netflix on July 04, 2025.
