Warning! SPOILERS about Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 6 ahead.
Summary
Iris already proved her quick thinking inMayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 5, but episode 6’s police raid cemented her wit, along with Mike’s ineffectiveness in planning the best course for her protection when Iris was involved. Mike worried about Iris’s well-being ever since Milo understood he could hurt her to get Mike to do his bidding, inevitably feeling responsible for Iris after what she went through inMayor of Kingstownseason 1. Their relationship eventually turned into one of deep care for one another, even thoughMike’s focus on protecting Iris was an obstacle inMayor of Kingstown.
Mike’s wish to protect Iris so that nothing and nobody could harm her any more than Milo and AB already did nevertheless turned out counterproductive repeatedly. When Mike hid Milo’s escape from jail from Iris so that she wouldn’t worry inMayor of Kingstownseason 2, she eventually returned to Milo. Mike often hampered Iris’s agency in the name of her protection instead of involving her in the plans for her future. Mike’s reaction inMayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 6 proved he still hasn’t understood his lesson, risking more for Iris with his misguided way of protecting her.

Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3 Still Doesn’t Know What To Do With Iris
Iris’s latest development puts her in a difficult position she may need saving from, but it can also let Iris break free from Milo & Mike’s shadows.
Iris Standing Her Ground & Being There For The Raid Protected Her Cover In Mayor Of Kingstown
Mike’s Raid Warning & Instructions To Iris Would Have Put Her In Danger
Iris’s position inMayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 5 already showed how fickle her situation was with Konstantin, especially after he killed off Tatiana inMayor of Kingstownseason 3’s premiere just because he suspected she betrayed him. Mike himself realized how dangerous Iris’s spying was, telling her there could be no contact between each other unless they used the burner phone he got her. However,Mike’s call to let Iris know the SWAT team would have raided Cavo soon so she should have taken her lunch break broke his own protocol, and put Iris in unimaginable danger.
Mike already knew he shouldn’t have contacted Iris, lest he put her in danger, but his instinct to protect her fromRobert’s excessive violence inMayor of Kingstownseason 3still made him choose to call Cavo directly, hoping she would answer. However,Mike’s idea of protecting Iris would have actually put her more in danger, as avoiding the raid could have made Konstantin doubt her loyalty, somethingMayor of Kingstownseason 3 proved was reason enough for Konstantin to kill someone. Had Iris trusted Mike, she could have been in more danger than just being hurt in a melee.

Mike’s need to protect Iris from immediate danger makes him blind to potentially riskier situations she might end up in, making Iris’s choice to ignore his advice smart inMayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 5.
Iris not trusting Mike’s feckless excuse, instead deciding to stay and risk being attacked in the raid, proved the smartest choice in the end.Standing her ground showed Iris knew what she was doing, Konstantin, and that the best way to protect herself was not to trust Mike, as his judgment was clouded when her safety was at risk. Mike is the only one left who needs to realize his suggestions are flawed when he pushes Iris away from imminent danger, especially when running away pushes Iris towards something far more lethal.

Mike Not Dealing With His Guilt Over What Milo Put Iris Through Can Get Iris Killed
Mike and Iris’s history inMayor of Kingstownexplains why he wants to protect her from any type of harm. Hopefully, Iris’s discoveries and good action plans finally convince Mike she’s able to take care of herself, without him protecting her at every turn inMayor of Kingstown.
