Summary
As entertaining as it may be, Robert Pattinson did not get into the mind ofDCicon Bruce Wayne inThe Batmanby playing Sonic the Hedgehog every day. 2022’sThe Batmanwas the most recent live-action movie to star the iconic DC hero, sandwiched between Ben Affleck’s penultimate and final take on the character inZack Snyder’s Justice LeagueandThe Flashin 2021 and 2023, respectively. Despite their proximity, the two versions of Batman are quite different, with Pattinson’s Batman emanating a far broodier persona that matches the decidedly gothic Gotham in which he operates.
The fact thatRobert Pattinson is the 13th actor to play Batmanin live-action only adds to the aura of edginess. While Pattinson was never at the top of fan-cast lists, he went on to prove his worth by delivering one ofthe best takes on Batmanthus far. According to one “interview,” this was thanks to a very unusual method Pattinson used to get into the right mindset, which has resurfaced during the build-up toThe Batman - Part II’s release.

Fake Robert Pattinson Interview Re-emerges Years Later
An interview has begun to resurface via @surasshu onTwitter/Xthat appears to show Robert Pattinson responding to the question of how he went about getting into character as Batman.
The interaction occurs in a screenshot of what appears to be an interview with GQ. When asked “How did you go about getting into character as The Batman?” the screenshot seems to show Pattinson responding to the question by stating:

It was grueling. I came to set early every day and played Sonic Adventure 2 in my trailer - but only the dark story. That’s where you play as Shadow the Hedgehog. I wanted to study him, become him; by understanding his angst I knew I could channel that in my performance. It was tough. Everyday I saw Shadow process this big trauma - he watched his best friend die in front of him, you know - and now he’s just lost, he tries to do right by his friend but it’s all so hard to sort through. He’s hurt, but he does what he thinks is the right thing, and that’s what Batman is about.
Shadow the Hedgehog is a recurring character in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise who serves as an arch-rival to and dark reflection of Sonic. His dark and brooding persona typifies the kind of vibe that Pattinson appears to want to embody in this interview. The interview is, however, a fake- which is why it only ever gets shared as a screenshot rather than via link. Nevertheless, there are plenty of comments that express how believable it is, thanks to the fact that Pattinson has a history of saying such wild things in interviews.

Keanu Reeves will be voicing Shadow the Hedgehog inSonic the Hedgehog 3in December.
The Batman: 10 Things That Make Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne Unique
From hitherto-unseen detective skills to a lack of crimefighting experience, there are many things that make Robert Pattinson’s Batman stand out.
Why The Batman’s Fake Sonic Post Is So Oddly Convincing
Needless to say, the idea that Robert Pattinson did playSonic Adventure 2to prepare for a role as iconic as Batman is outlandish. Nevertheless,it is easy to imagine that Robert Pattinson would say these things in an interview, given his track record of telling playful liesspans back several years at this point. This is something the actor has admitted to on multiple occasions, and a habit that means even some more unusual faked interviews have a chance to gain traction with audiences who are familiar with these past occurrences.
One of the most longstanding lies that Pattinson has told was in a 2009 interview with Extra (viaImage) where he espoused not washing his hair or cleaning his apartment as he didn’t see the point. When it comes toThe Batman, Pattinson did previously state that he wasn’t working out for the role - despite all evidence to the contrary - and that he believed “Batman has sort of [a] piratey type voice.” Evidently, when it comes to the Sonic rumor, the actor’s reputation precedes him, making such false interviews as this GQ one all the more believable.
