Nonetheless, among all the excitement, an important andfascinating plot point seems to have been ignored: the sinister Garden organization.This group of dangerous assassins, to whom Yor swore loyalty, were presented as a main driving force to the story, with the manga going as far as to hint at a future conflict between them and W.I.S.E. Still, months after their last appearance, nothing new has come from that storyline, which is a major disappointment.

Inside the world ofSpy x Family, the Garden is regarded as an enigmatic and deadly group formed by the best and most skilled assassins in the world. Besides Yor,several of the Spy x Family franchise’s strongest charactershave a connection to this group.Their physical condition is superior to most other humans, as they need to always be prepared to fight and kill those who threaten world peace. Their leader, known simply as the Shopkeeper, is an extremist who is capable of doing anything to secure his mission.
Since this organization was introduced in chapter #2 of the manga, they have been regarded as one of the most important factions in Ostania. They were supposed to be just as vital to the story as W.I.S.E., acting as an opposing force that would drive the conflict between Loid and Yor. However, despite their supposed relevance, they have not played any significant role since chapter #66, the last time the real shopkeeper was seen. As such,all storylines relating to Yor’s work have also been seemingly scrapped,with not much of her work as an assassin being shown.

The Main Villain Has Been the Main Focus of the Franchise for Months
Over the last couple of arcs, theSpy x Familymanga has been advancing the story of its main villain, Donovan Desmond.The tragic backstory of Martha and Hendersongives readers a short glance at what the man was like as a child. The difficult situation of the Desmond family has also been extensively studied, with the best example being the awkward family dinner in chapter #106. More importantly,Melinda’s storyline shocked fans by revealing that Donovan could be a mind reader like Anya,making him several times more dangerous than he appeared to be before this reveal.
Almost all factions in the series have been connected to Donovan so far, except the Garden. It might be time for the franchise to allow Yor and her fellow assassins to join the race and try to stop Donovan before it is too late. By having the Shopkeeper assign Anya’s mother a mission revolving around finding information about the main villain’s plans,the series could have all major players focusing on a single task.As such, the possibilities of conflict between rival factions would increase, continuing with the exciting and tense adventures that Endo has been working on for months.

If they ever find each other on the battlefield, following one of Desmond’s lackeys or trying to infiltrate one of his bases, they will have no other option but to be honest with each other,maybe even leading to a fight between Loid and Yor.Fans have been asking the manga for many months to include any hints at this long-awaited reveal occurring down the line, and now is the perfect time to do so.

In chapter #66 of theSpy x Familymanga, Yor is seen talking with her boss about Loid’s interest in Donovan Desmond. Since the woman was not aware of her husband’s profession, she deduced that Twilight wanted to join the villain’s political party, implying that he was a follower of his beliefs. This comment caused the Shopkeeper’s face to become one of hatred and mistrust, almost as if he was considering ordering Yor to kill Loid before he could contact Donovan. After the release of this chapter,fans expected Garden’s leader to become one of Loid’s major antagonists.
Almost 50 chapters later, this storyline has not been developed, which has disappointed thousands of fans. The manga established that Loid and the Garden would soon have a confrontation, only to ignore the story it had already developed and never brought it up again. This issue needs to be addressed, as it would not be satisfying or realistic that the Shopkeeper would just forget his suspicions about Twilight. By ignoring this plot point,the series is also reducing the importance of the Garden,making it seem like a minor threat to W.I.S.E. and its goals.
Yor Deserves To Be the Protagonist Again

Yor is one of the funniest, most likable, and beloved characters in theSpy x Familyseries, without a doubt. She quickly became a fan favorite thanks to her friendly attitude, impressive fighting skills, and superhuman abilities. Despite this, the manga has severely misused her during the last couple of months. Yor does not seem to be relevant to the story unless she is interacting with Melinda, which only benefits Loid.TheSpy x Familymanga would greatly benefit from giving Yor another arc where she is the focus,helping her develop her story without it being directly linked to Loid’s.
