One-Punch Manjust released a new chapter, but fans were disappointed to realize that the chapter wasn’t “new” at all. Instead, the new chapter was a redraw of one released several months ago, which had already been redrawn once before, sparking backlash.

One-Punch Manis a rather unusual manga in that artist Yusuke Murata will go back and draw new versions of previous chapters, often just to ensure that the quality is the highest possible before the physical manga volumes are printed. These redrawn chapters are released just like weekly chapters, and fans don’t know which they’ll get until the chapter drops. On rare occasions, the redraws have been highly significant, changing scenes around in massive ways that impact how the story plays out. While some fans appreciate the redraws, others find it frustrating, as it means the story pace slows to a crawl.

One-Punch Man Draws Ire For a Second Redraw on the Ninja Village Arc

The Arc Being Redrawn Again Could Mean No New Story for Months

On Wednesday, July 12, 2025, a chapter was released, which turned out to be a redrawn version of Chapter 193, the beginnings of the Ninja Village arc, which was already redrawn in 2024. Most of 2024 was spent redrawing previous chapters, with very few new chapters actually released over the course of the year, so the idea of this trend continuing into 2025 was met with an explosion of frustration on social media. The situation was compounded whenMurata posted to X (formerly Twitter)that next week would also see a redrawn chapter released, suggesting the entire arc might be remade for a third time.

This isn’t the first time that a chapter has seen multiple redraws;the Phoenix Man vs. Child Emperor fight, back in chapters 101-103, was heavily revised once, then again for the physical manga release. Many fans were less happy with the redrawn version, and the topic of the fight is often a sore spot in the fandom. The Ninja Village arc, however, could see as many as 15 chapters redrawn, which would mean most of 2025 would again be spent on the same arc as 2024. These redraws also cause massive problems for the English translation, as the redrawn chapters are never translated officially, causing continuity issues when new material begins.

Why is One-Punch Man Redrawing the Ninja Village Arc a Second Time?

Murata’s Perfectionism is Likely the Reason

While no official reason has been given for the redraws, it’s known that Yusuke Murata can be a bit of a perfectionist, and never quite seems to be happy with his work, no matter how technically impressive it is.One-Punch Manis already known for having some of the best art in the manga medium, and Murata seems to push himself to deliver only the highest quality. Perfectionism can result in great work, but in cases like this, it’s more of a curse, as most fans would agree there’s little room to improve the second version of the Ninja Village arc already. Hopefully, this is just a brief period of redraws, and not the entirety ofOne-Punch Man’s most recent arc served up all over again.
