OnePlus 10R and Nord CE 2 Lite launch confirmed for April 28th event
Earlier this week, OnePlussent out invitesfor a launch event in India on April 28 carrying the tagline “More Power To You,” where it would reveal an “array of OnePlus devices.” Now, the company has gone ahead and confirmed that it would be announcing the OnePlus 10R and Nord CE 2 Lite 5G at the event. The 10R will be the smartphone maker’s flagship smartphone in the more affordable R series and sit below theOnePlus 10 Pro, while the CE 2 Lite will be a more affordable variant of the Nord CE 2.
In its announcement, OnePlus confirms the 10R will feature 150W SuperVOOC charging making it possible to top up its battery to full in just 17 minutes. The base variant of the device will support slower 80W charging speeds.
This pretty much confirms theOnePlus 10R will be a rebranded Realme GT Neo 3packing a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display and a MediaTek chipset. It should house a triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro camera.
As for the Nord CE 2 Lite, the BBK-owned company says it will feature a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. This should be good enough to juice up the battery to 50% in just 30 minutes. The phone is expected to be a budget mid-range offering packing a Snapdragon 695 chip, a 6.59-inch display, and a 64MP primary camera. It will be a cut-down variant of theNord CE 2that launched in India in February. The latter wasn’t a great phone, but it did offer a decent price-to-performance ratio. The CE 2 Lite should carry an even lower price tag than its sibling.
It looks like none of the two devices due to be announced later this month will feature an Alert Slider, a staple feature of OnePlus phones. Additionally, OnePlus is also expected to unveil its firstNord-branded earphonesat the event. The audio accessory recently passed through the FCC and should be a budget offering. It’s unlikely that any of these upcoming OnePlus offerings will be sold in the US or Europe.
