Summary
The Sims 4’s latest expansion pack, “Lovestruck,” launched on July 13, 2025, capping off the game’s recent “Season of Love” live event. Season of Love introduced the Riviera Retreat and Cozy Bistro destination kits to the store, as well as patch updates to the base game focusing on the nuances of relationships, with more complex, customizable romantic boundaries for players to choose from.
This was all setting the stage for the release ofLovestruck, which brought back the Turn Ons/Turn Offs mechanic from past titles likeThe Sims 2to help determine how attracted Sims are to each other through mutual interests and different types of interactions. The expansion - which has had someteething problems since its launch- is intended to allow players toplan better dates with newer interactions, locations, and more through the Cupid’s Corner dating app, with a new Singles Hangout lot trait that’ll attract available Sims to go mingle with each other.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck Review: A Bit Of A Hot Mess
The Sims 4 Lovestruck is great for cultivating relationship depth and romantic drama, but its level of detail is better suited to a Game Pack.
The Cupid’s Corner App Is Bringing In Other People’s Sims
Pulling From The Sims Gallery
One ofThe Sims 4’s popular features is its gallery, where players are able to share their unique creations for others to download and add to their own game, from new characters toimpressive builds such as a functional cruise shipor spooky locations for Halloween. This was a great way for the community to showcase its creativity with one another, but thanks toLovestruck,it now serves an additional purpose.
As shared on ther/Sims4subreddit,Cupid’s Corner is pulling from the gallery’s player-generated contentto widen its dating pool. This has grown delightfully chaotic asplayers have been able to match with and date the likes ofPirates of the Caribbean’s Captain Jack Sparrow,Family Feudhost Steve Harvey, and even Shrek… There’s alotof Shrek.

Pulling from players' galleries is undoubtedly a fun feature for Cupid’s Corner, and it certainly makes dating inThe Sims 4a more varied experience by branching out from players' created worlds, but with so many bizarre Sims having been created over the years, players should prepare for some interesting matches. There is, of course, the option for players to turn this feature offand only have Cupid’s Corner pull from their own library of creations.

Could This Lovestruck Feature Be A Glimpse Into Sims Multiplayer?
Inviting Others' Sims Into Your World
ManyThe Simsplayers have theorized about whether the series would ever add multiplayer to enable players to meet up with others and explore their builds, but this has yet to materialize. While there have beenreports thatThe Sims 5may have been canceled, the next-generation, free-to-playSimsgame codenamedProject Rene- which has affectionately been calledThe Sims 5by the community but never officially had that title - seems to still be in active development and its game director, Grant Rodiek, has discussed its features over the years, including the option for bothmultiplayer and single-player gameplay.
The initial concept forThe Sims 4was an online multiplayer experience, at the time codenamedProject Olympus, but this aspect was ultimately dropped in favor of a more traditional single-player experience.

With the option to bring in others' creations already in play through the gallery and Cupid’s Corner now adding them to the dating scene, this could be a fun way to start sowing the seeds for multiplayer mechanics inProject Rene.Currently, the way to add Sims from the gallery into a player’s world is pretty obtuse and requires them to be manually placed within certain households. With the filters and preferences available when setting up a profile on Cupid’s Corner, maybe these features could be made so that other players' characters that fall under certain criteria can just populate each other’s worlds.
Rodiek has previously pointed out thatProject Renewould not be an MMO, so players won’t just be roaming freely and bumping into each other. Instead, the game will let players interact together in the same private worlds with customization features that can be utilized in real-time, but only if they have been invited. The kind of tools being shown inThe Sims 4’sLovestruckexpansion could be a start in inviting other players into different worlds, and while, for now, it’s just bringing in their custom character designs, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to send an invitation to the creator to come in and control their interactions down the line.
