Summary

Starfieldmay already allow players to build and pilot their own spaceships butone fan has a fantastic theory that could introduce a whole new form of vehicle to the game. Throughout players' cosmic adventures, Bethesda often teases the possibility of sliding into the cockpit of a towering mech suit and roaming around a planet, dispensing lethal justice withan assortment of heavy weapons. Unfortunately, the game’s lore forbids this mechanic, meaning users have been forced to speculate on whether or not it could ever happen in the future.

Over on Reddit, userTerminalHappinessshared their theory thatpiles of non-functional mech suits and vehicles have been included in the game as a tease for a major DLC expansionor content update. They support their hypothesis by stating that Bethesda has a history of adding major new mechanics into its RPGs with DLC packs, citing Dragon Riding inThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Additionally, there’s already room for some kind of modular mech building system thanks to the in-depth ship customization options, so it’s not hard to imagine large metal walkers roaming the galaxy once again.

10 Pieces Of Starfield Cut Content That Should Be Reintroduced To The Game

Starfield has a pretty extensive universe filled with a ton of content, but there is some cut content that might have made the game even better.

Bethesda Has A History Of Buildable Robots

An Automatron-Like DLC Could Be A Game Changer

TerminalHappiness goes one step further in its theory by noting that inFallout 4,Bethesda released theAutomatronDLC which enabled players to design, build, and upgrade their own robots. While a mech suit, which is designed to function as a massive piece of external armor for the pilot, is functionally different from a robotic follower, the link is certainly clear and present. Some kind of DLC that would allow users to gather discarded mech bodies andrefurbish them with new parts and featureswould be welcomed with open arms.

When it comes to the mechs already present inStarfield, all of the ones that can be discovered are broken and dismantled. According to the game’s lore, the technology was deemed too powerful due to its deadly efficiency in the Colony War which raged between the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective. After the conflict was settled, all mechs were banned and destroyed to prevent them from falling into the hands of anyone who might use them for evil, which sounds like the premise of a very interesting DLC.
