Summary

I believeSuperman & Loisseason 4 has been set up to approach one of the Superman stories theDCEUtouched on, though the series can do a better job than DC’s films.Superman is likely the most iconic superhero ever. There have been several adaptations of the Man of Steel over the years, with manyactors playing Superman in live-actionand animation. That continues to this day, withDavid Corenswet’s Supermanset to debut in 2025 and the Man of Steel continuing to be present in the animated space throughMy Adventures with Superman.

With The CW shifting its plans for scripted content and a new Superman soon rising in the DCU, Tyler Hoechlin’s time as the Man of Steel will have to come to an end.Superman & Loisseason 4will be the final entry in the hero’s ongoing live-action series, leaving Superman’s TV presence to animation while Corenswet’s Man of Steel dominates the live-action space in DC movies. I think theSuperman & Loisseason 3 finalevery clearly set up a major Superman story from the comics for season 4, and the series can do it better than the DCEU.

I’ve Worked Out What DC’s ‘Bold Decision’ For The Superman & Lois Season 4 Premiere Is & You’re Not Ready

Superman & Lois season 4’s premiere has been teased to feature a bold decision, and if what I think is happening is true, then fans are not ready.

Superman & Lois Season 4 Has Perfectly Set Up “The Death Of Superman”

A Seminal DC Comics Story

I think Hoechlin’s Man of Steel will die whenSuperman & Loisreturns for its final season. The reason for that isSuperman & Loisseason 3’s ending set up a version of DC Comics' “The Death of Superman” story to happen. I was both excited and shocked to see that the team behind the series had decided to bring inDoomsday, the monster who is responsible for killing Superman in the comics. With season 3’s final shot being Superman and Doomsday about to clash, I think the next step in that meeting is Hoechlin’s Superman dying.

It would surely be a shocking move to startSuperman & Lois' final season by killing the Man of Steel, butone of the series' stars has made that possibility seem even more inevitable. Lois Lane actressElizabeth Tulloch teased what fans could expect fromSuperman & Lois' season 4 premiere. The actress said, “It was a very bold decision on their part to do this and to pull it off for the first episode of season 4.” With Tulloch also revealing that said decision came from the comics, Superman’s death would make for a huge final season opener.

How Old The Superman & Lois Cast Is Compared To Their Characters

The cast of Superman & Lois have ages with just as much range as their characters, from young adults playing teenagers to middle-aged actors.

I Think Superman & Lois Can Do What The DCEU Tried And Failed To Accomplish

Superman’s Death Can Be Handled Better

The DCEU already did a version of “The Death of Superman” in live-action, with Doomsday killing Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, I don’t think the shared universe’s attempt at the classic DC Comics story was the best it could have been. Cavill’s Superman debuted in 2013’sMan of Steel. The hero never got a second solo movie, being thrust into a crossover with Batman that morphed into a confrontation with Doomsday and led toSuperman’s death at the end of 2016’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

I think Superman’s death was incredibly rushed, with the DCEU not giving enough time for Cavill’s Man of Steel to develop before dying. Clark Kent couldn’t even be properly missed, as it was painfully obvious that his death would be undone just a year later. With a Justice League movie releasing in 2017, Superman’s death held no weight, as there was no way DC would have the first live-action Justice League movie not including Superman. I believeSuperman & Loisseason 4 could handle Clark’s death better, focusing a few episodes on the impact his death has on the world.

Tyler Hoechlin also debuted as Superman in the Arrowverse in 2016, and even if that version of the hero is different from Superman & Lois', fans have been following the actor as Superman for 8 years, which brings more impact to Superman’s possible death.

Superman has one of the most iconic costumes ever, but this hasn’t always translated to live-action as effectively as it does in DC Comics.

I Think Clark Kent’s Death Could Shake Things Up For Superman & Lois’ Final Season

I Want To See A Time Jump In The DC Series

Another way to make sure thatSuperman & Lois' possible major death is impactful is to have a time jump early in the season. With ten episodes in its final season,Superman & Loisseason 4’s premiere could start with Doomsday killing the Man of Steel and the rest of the episode and the next focusing on Lex Luthor starting to make moves and how Clark’s loved ones and the world are coping with his death. By the end of episode 2,Superman & Loiscould then feature a time jump that leads to Clark coming back to life.

Superman & Loisseason 4 could then follow Hoechlin’s Man of Steel as he realizes the time he has lost and what has happened to the world. A time jump of around a year should be enough to cause drama to set up very high stakes for the final season. As his arc has been about coming to terms with his powers and how they fit with his dad as Superman,Jordan could have taken over as the protector of the world as Superboy, fighting against Lex Luthor beforeSuperman & Loissees Clark return to defeat his nemesis.

Superman & Lois

Based on the characters from DC Comics, Superman & Lois follows Clark Kent and Lois Lane, attempting to live a quiet life in Smallville with their twin sons Jonathan and Jordan. Unfortunately for the couple, their lives continue to be effected by Clark’s superhero identity and powers. Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch star as Clark and Lois, with Jordan Elsass and Alex Garfin portraying the couple’s sons.
