Speaking withEmpire,McKay and Brändström teased a multi-episode battle forThe Rings of Powerseason 2, explaining it will be much larger than the fight in the Southlands during season 1. The creatives teased the level of violence that will be seen in the fight, as well as how big a scale the battle will actually have. Check out what McKay and Brändström had to say below:
McKay:We love a good battle. The plan with Season 2 would be to do something much bigger, on a much grander scale that would take place not just overnight, but over multiple days, weeks, months and episodes.
Brändström:[It will be] ten times bigger…. It’s really the battle of the darkness against the light, with some very dark and quite violent moments.

The Fight Could Be The War Of The Elves & Sauron
Executive producer Lindsey Weber also teased the intensity of the upcoming fight, even saying “terrifying moments” would transpire. Elrond being part of the upcoming battle is the first clue as to what the multi-episode fight is going to entail, as well as what it will involve in terms of the story. It was previously confirmedthe Elvencharacters inThe Rings of Powerare going to be involved, hinting the Elves learn of Sauron’s plans regarding control of Middle-earth with the Rings. The battle could be their attempt at stopping him from gaining more power.
SinceThe Rings of Powercondenses elements from the Second Age,the multi-episode battle could be a remixed version of the War of the Elves and Sauronfrom J.R.R. Tolkien’s writings. This battle happened after the forging of the One Ring, with the Elves driving the Dark Lord out of Eriador. However, this was not without major losses, including a massive attack on Eregion, where Celebrimbor first forged the Rings with him in the show. This means the Elven city could be the site of the multi-episode battle.
