Summary

The Bearseason 4 received a major update regarding its ending, and it has made me much more relieved about the show’s future. With three seasons under its belt,The Bearhas established itself as one of TV’s best ongoing shows, and it has the awards to back it up. Having already won big during the previous award season,The Bear’s record-breaking 2024 Emmy nominationssuggest the series is in line to win even more prizes. While these achievements are incredibly impressive, the fantastic reputation and critical acclaim makeThe Bear’s eventual conclusion all the more important.

AlthoughThe Bearseason 3’s endingset up a compelling fourth outing, I was beginning to get worried about the show’s pacing and what it meant for its future. While season 3 had plenty to admire, it split opinions and frustrated viewers by failing to make any major advancements to the story. Thankfully,FX’s executive commented onThe Bearseason 4 potentially endingthe series, and his statement put me at ease. John Landgraf suggested it would be up to the show’s creator, Christopher Storer, to decide whenThe Bearends, meaning it should avoid one key issue.

The Bear Season 4 Is On The Right Track To Resolve A Big Season 3 Complaint

The Bear’s season 3 had a particularly big complaint, but because of how season 3 ended, season 4 is already on the right track to address this issue.

The Bear Season 4 Update Proves FX Won’t Drag The Show Out

Landgraf’s Comments Suggest The Bear Will End When The Time Is Right

Landgraf’s season 4 comments fill me with confidence, as they indicateThe Bearwill avoid being dragged out by FX. Shows going on too long have become a constant problem, with several series ending way past their peak. Studios wanting to capitalize on their most popular projects is natural, but this often hurts their legacy. While FX is generally good at ending things at the right time, it is still reassuring to hear thatStorer will have the final say on whenThe Bearconcludes, as it means the show won’t just stick around because it’s popular.

Basing this decision on story and creative choices rather than studio demands allowsThe Bearto continue creating its stressful episodeswhile developing its relatable characters at its own pace. Season 3 was rightfully criticized for feeling too much like a filler season, but I’m much more confident this was a deliberate choice to create more tension after this latest update. The Bearhas done an excellent job of slowly unraveling Carmy and Sydney’s professional relationship, and I can’t wait to see it reach a boiling point in season 4, knowing the show will end when it’s ready.

Will The Bear End With Season 4? Should It?

The Bear Looks Like Its Approaching Its Last Few Seasons

The show’s popularity and critical accomplishments are good enough reasons for it to go on for longer, but it would be difficult to wrap everything up in a single season.

After Landgraf’s comments,The Bear’s ending is a bigger talking point than ever before.Season 4 could potentially end the project, as Carmy and Sydney may manage to turn things around for the restaurantand make it a success despite the ongoing issues. However, with Sydney’s job offer and difficulties with Carmy playing a major role in season 3, it seems unlikely the next installment will be so smooth. The show’s popularity and critical accomplishments are good enough reasons for it to continue, but it would be difficult to wrap everything up in a single season anyway.

On the flip side, I can’t seeThe Bearlasting too much longer, as it is not the type of show that needs 10 or so seasons. Whileseason 4 seems unlikely to conclude the story,The Bearmay finish with a fifth or sixth installment. It would be difficult to justify going beyond this, as the series would be at risk of becoming repetitive, and a lot of the drama would begin to fizzle out. Therefore, I don’t believeThe Bearshould finish with its fourth season, but it should begin building toward its climax.
