Summary

The Boysstar Laz Alonso shares his hopes for a movie to end the series after season 5. Created by Eric Kripke, the hit Prime Video series premiered in 2019, following characters Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), and Mother’s Milk (Alonso) as they attempt to take down a team of corrupt superheroes. The show is now in the midst of season 4, and Kripke revealed earlier this year thatThe Boysseason 5will bring the story to an end.

During a recent interview withJosh Horowitzfor theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast with some of his cast mates, Alonso reveals that he’s pitched aBoysmovie to end the series.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Kripke has taken to the idea just yet. Check out Alonso’s comment about the possibility of a movie below:

“I’ve been unsuccessfully pitching that we end the show with a feature film to Eric [Kripke]. Like, make the last episode of season five a cliffhanger and announce the film that we’ve been filming since the beginning of the series, pretty much. But he [Kripke] always somehow gets out of that one.”

Does The Boys Need A Movie To End The Show?

The Prime Video Show Could Work On The Big Screen

In many ways, endingThe Boyswith a movie would be the perfect meta way to conclude the show. TheDawn of the Sevenfilmand Vought’s entire entertainment division play a key role in the series, andThe Boysending with its own movie could be a fun way to further satirize the superhero movie landscape. Purely from a spectacle standpoint, it could also be just the exclamation mark that the Prime Video needs to end things with a bang.

The Boys' 8 Funniest Marvel & DC Jokes In Season 4, Episode 5

The Boys has always taken potshots at Marvel and DC, but season 4, episode 5 takes particularly harsh satirical aim at the comic book giants.

That being said,The Boyshas excelled so far as a TV show, delivering some big action set pieces with stunning visual effects. The series clearly doesn’t need a movie to give audiences intense moments of effects-driven action, and the final episodes ofThe Boysseason 5 are sure to prove this. Plus,Kripke has been open about wanting to end the show with season 5, meaning he seemingly already has a clear end point in mind.

The Boysseason 4 reviews, like those of previous seasons, have been generally very positive from critics, and the show does seem deserving of the big screen treatment. Making a movie for the big screen, however, might not be economically feasible given the inevitable R rating and the marketing dollars it would require. Making a movie that goes straight to Prime Video, on the other hand, might not be a format change that really makes sense ifKripke can just release a series finale that clocks in at a movie length of 1.5 hours.

New episodes ofThe Boysseason 4 release on Thursdays on Prime Video.
