What Do We Know About GTA 6?
More Crime, More Cash, More Mosquitoes
Aside from the flashy reveal trailer, Rockstar has yet to reveal much aboutGTA 6but based on the footage, some things are clear. Most notably, the game will be set in Vice City, a returning location that fans of the franchise will recognize as the neon-soaked parody of Miamithat was thecentral location of the titularGTA: Vice City. Players will seemingly step into the role of two protagonists as they become embroiled in a life of crime, acting in what appears to be a “Bonnie and Clyde” drama.
In a series first,GTA 6will also sport a playable female protagonistbut rumors abound that players will be able to switch between Lucia and her currently unnamed partner. Whether this is restricted to certain sequences is unknown but given the popularity of character-switching in the previous game, it stands to reasonthat the mechanic will carry over. Having said that,Red Dead Redemption 2didn’t offer the ability to jump between charactersso the formula may have changed.

As far as a release date is concerned,Rockstar has yet to announcewhenGrand Theft Auto 6will launch.A recent earnings call suggested that the game will be in players' hands by fall 2025but this is yet to be formally announced. Whatever the case may be, fans have waited over a decade for the sixth game so simply knowing that some small part of it is already making its way intoGTA Onlineshould be exciting in and of itself.
