Technology is for more than just humans. At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, a number of new smart pet gadgets have been announced. Here are some of my favorites.

Pawport Smart Pet Door

A pet door is perfect for a dog or cat who wants to come and go from the great outdoors without needing someone to open and close the door. But the door is also a gateway for other creatures like bugs, insects, and small rodents to enter your home.

The Pawport brings some much-needed smarts to any existing pet door or a new build. Your pet wears a small, waterproof tag on a collar. That will open the door automatically and then close it after the cat or dog is through. Using the companion app, you can remotely control the door, set curfews, and more. You can also see when your pet enters and leaves.

The smart pet door starts at $499 and arrives early this year.

Petcube Filtered Pet Fountain

A smart water fountain is one of myfavorite smart home devices for a pet. And Petcube’s Filtered Water Fountain is made to provide clean and fresh water for a cat or small dog. The fountain uses a four-layer filtration system and UV-C antibacterial light.

The 1.7-liter tank is dishwasher-safe and can store more than 7 days of water. A 2,600mAh battery will power the fountain for up to 20 days on a single charge. Along with a chew-proof cable, rubber feet will help keep the fountain in one place. Integration with the companion app will let you know when it’s time to change the water filter.

You can pre-order the fountain now. It’s $89.99 for a version with a ceramic basin or $69.99 for a model with stainless steel bowl. It will officially arrive on March 1.

PETPA Multi-Pet Feeder

PETPA’s Multi-Pet Feeder helps make it a bit easier to manage a feeding schedule for more than one cat or dog. The system identifies each pet with a microchip and image recognition. It holds two different types of pet food and allows you to create a feeding schedule for each pet with a companion app. The feeder can hold up to 15 days worth of food for two cats and switches between the specific bowl when each animal is identified.

There’s no word on the retail price or release date for the feeder.
