Should Captain Sandy Fire Bosun Iain Maclean On Below Deck Med?

Captain Sandy Might Have No Choice But To Fire Iain

After performing poorly early on in the charter season, it’s no surprise that Captain Sandy is considering firing Iain. AsBelow Deck Medseason 9 progresses, Iain’s performance hasn’t improved, unlike Chef Jono, who also faced criticism for the meals he creates. Iain made multiple mistakes, leaving his crew to handle things on their own at times. His lack of self-awareness has not gone unnoticed, asother members of the deckhand crew, like Gael Cameron, have observed that Iain “lacks accountability” and often blames others instead of taking responsibility.

As he has continued to put forth a lazy work ethic with no room for criticism,Iain may be the first crew member firedthis season if he continues the way he is. Although this won’t be the first firingBelow Deck Mediterraneanhas seen, Iain has been given multiple chances to improve and take his job more seriously. As Captain Sandy provided feedback to Iain, it seemed to go in one ear and out the other as the South African Bosun made no effort to take accountability for his screw-ups.
