Timothée Chalamet & Josh Safdie Could Be A Perfect Fit
Why Marty Supreme Is So Exciting
Chalamet first emerged as a star to watch in 2017 after starring in smaller movies likeCall Me By Your NameandLady Bird. Since then, he’s come to serve as the anchor for two major IP-driven blockbusters. After first playing Paul Atreides in 2021, the actor reprised the role for Denis Villeneuve’scritically-acclaimedDune: Part Twoearlier this year. The film was a major box office success, and it marked the second significant win for Chalamet after 2023’sWonka.
Chalamet is expected to appear in theannouncedDune: Part Three, which could arrive in 2027, continuing his domination of the blockbuster space. The actor, however, has proven himself a powerful performer in smaller, less spectacle-driven movies, and it would be refreshing to see him return to these types of projects. One such project that could fit this mold isJames Mangold’sA Complete Unknown, a Bob Dylan biopic in which Chalamet plays Dylan.Marty Supremeis poised to be a similar type of project.
A Complete Unknowndoesn’t yet have an official release date, but it’s expected to arrive at some point next year.
With their previous work, the Safdies have proven themselves adept at delivering gritty and grungy movies with highly flawed characters. WhileMarty Supreme, on the surface, seems to have little in common withGood TimeandUncut Gems, it could give Chalamet a unique opportunity to show off an entirely different side of himself as an actor. Many questions remain aboutMarty Supreme, but the film is certainly one to keep an eye on.
