WhyVenom: The End’s Venom and Iron Man are Their Ultimate Versions

Venom: The Endby Adam Warren and Chamba

Venom inVenom: The Endis fighting to save biological life in the universe after the Godminds began assimilating everything and everyone within its cosmic database in order to shape a new universe from the data it collected. In that effort, Venom taps into the superhuman abilities of every person he’s ever bonded with, even going so far as to travel to the past to bond with literally everyone in every point in history. This allows Venom to unleash every superpower in Marvel canon, and he needed every one of them for a chance at beating “Iron Man.”

The Stark A.S.I. is what became of Tony Stark’s consciousness after the original Iron Man uploaded it into his A.I. systems. Over the course of trillions of years, the Stark A.S.I. evolved into what it is inVenom: The End, eventually merging with other A.S.I. systems across the universe to become the collective Godminds.Iron Man became a god, one strong enough to bring the Marvel Universe to an end to usher in a new one. And these cosmic titans tear through time and space, both fighting for their version of the future of the Marvel Universe.

Venomverse Rebornis MakingVenom: The End’s Venom vs Iron Man Even Cooler

While the conflict between Venom and Iron Man was already told inVenom: The End, that story was more of an illustrated history lesson that spanned trillions of years, and leaves a lot of room for narrative exploration. Indeed,Venomverse Reborndigs into the details of Venom’s conflict with Iron Man in this distant future, showing an encounter between the two all-powerful entities before their final confrontation. The A.S.I. version of Tony Stark tells Venom that he is cut off from the rest of the multiverse and is therefore unable to flee their conflict by escaping to another universe.

To Stark’s surprise, Venom laughs in his face. He says that he never even considered fleeing into the multiverse, and thatthe “endless sea of infinite self-variation” found in the multiverse renders individual life meaningless. He would rather fight and die in his home universe than cravenly flee into another. Stark acknowledges that this Venom is truly unique among all the versions of the multiverse, andeven the Godmind is awed by the hyper-heroic sacrifice Venom makes to protect the biological life of his universe.

While the context of the story itself is nothing new,Venomverse Rebornhas the room to add this extra detail that makesVenom: The Endeven cooler. By taking the time to dive into the previously-unseen moment of this conflict, the story allows readers to seeVenomlaughing in the face of danger before unleashing the powers of every superhuman in the history of Marvel Comics against the most powerful version ofIron Man.
