The Lincoln Lawyerskips the first and third books of the series that it adapts, and there is a good reason for it. Following a high-profile defense attorney named Mickey Haller who revives his career following an accident by taking on the most public case he can find,The Lincoln Lawyeris one of Netflix’s most entertaining shows. The series explores the cracks in the American justice system and uses a morally ambiguous protagonist to navigate these real-world dilemmas. It’s one of thebest courtroom shows on streaming, and the first three seasons all managed to surpass expectations.

The Lincoln Lawyeris based on Michael Connelly’s bookseries of the same name. The novels adopt a very similar format to the show, following Haller’s exploits through LA as he defends high-profile criminals and struggles to separate his work from his personal life. The Lincoln Lawyerseason 4 will adapt “The Law of Innocence”, which is considered one of Connelly’s most ambitious stories yet.

The Lincoln Lawyer’s 4th season is on its way, but before then, Prime Video has another brilliant legal drama from creator David E. Kelley.

Given the success of Furman’s movie, the crew behind Netflix’sThe Lincoln Lawyerreboot decided it wouldn’t make sense to tell this story again and skipped this novel entirely. Instead, the show reworked certain details of Connelly’s second book,“The Brass Verdict,” to make it work better as an introduction for the character.

The Lincoln Lawyer Would Have Struggled To Adapt Book 3 Without Harry Bosch

The Character Belongs To Another Show

Perhaps the strangest thing aboutThe Lincoln Lawyer’s Netflix revival is that while the show essentially has the rights to whichever of Michael Connelly’s stories it requires, the show cannot use the character of Haller’s half-brother, Harry Bosch. This is because the character already exists in the Amazon seriesBosch, which began airing in 2014.

Bosch’s absence inThe Lincoln Lawyeris becoming more noticeable, but so far, the legal drama has done a good job of adapting the stories so that Bosch’s character isn’t needed. This would have been extremely difficult with Connelly’s third book, “The Reversal”, in which Bosch plays a much larger role. Netflix’sThe Lincoln Lawyerskipped over this story for that reason.
