Summary
Suitshad a steady 9-season run on the USA Network until it concluded in 2019, but some longtime viewers of the show were not happy with its short final season. Be that as it may,Suitsbecame one of the network’s most successful shows, and is considered one of thebest law shows and legal dramasever. It follows untrained lawyer Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who becomes a lawyer without finishing school through his photographic memory.
Thanks to its popularity, a short-lived spin-off series,Pearsonwas created and lasted for one season on the same network. More recently, a Los Angeles-set spin-off of the show calledSuits: L.A. was announced in October 2023, following a previous New York prosecutor, Ted Black (Stephen Amell), and his team at his law firm that specializes in criminal and entertainment law. With the new show, many viewers are looking back atSuits'8-year run and wondering why season 9 felt so rushed, and why, if, for any reason, it had 10 episodes instead of the show’s usual 16. As it turns out, there was a surprising explanation.

Suits' Creator Wanted Season 9’s Episodes To End On A “High Note” In The Summer
Suits season 9 aired from July to September 2019.
Despite the happy endings for the returning regulars and the firm, viewers were surprised bySuits' 10 episodes in its last season. In an interview withDeadline, Korsh said factors like Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle leaving prompted the end ofSuits.Concerning the 10-episode final season, Korsh confirmed thatthey chose to air the final 10 across the summer to"go out on a high note," and also to bring characters back for the finale. This means that the choice of a 10-episode season was an attempt to make the finale as “feel-good” as possible and keep he story over one season.
All episodes ofSuitsare available to stream on Netflix and Peacock.

Suits' resolution in season 9 was positive despite only having 10 episodes. Thenetwork was happy for show creator, Aaron Korsh, to go ahead with the 16-episode format, but he went with 10 episodesinstead. Although it only had 10 episodes,Suits’season finale managed to come through with a satisfying conclusion, with Donna (Sarah Rafferty) and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) leaving the firm to work with Mike in Seattle, Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) having his baby with new wife Shelia, and Mike’s awaited return that helped to save the firm and give it one finalname change, Litt Wheeler Williams Bennett.
Why Suits' Season 9 Finale Still Felt So Abrupt
Suits' season 9 finale felt abrupt mainlybecause there were six fewer episodes to close out the characters' storylines. Season 9’s antagonist, Faye Richardson, (Denise Crosby) attempts to take over the firm but has few episodes to make an impact before she’s removed, as the partners hash out a tactical yet speedy plan to oust her. Major character decisions also seem to come in the blink of an eye, like fan-favorite couple Donna and Harvey making a seemingly random decision to leave, and certain plots being left open-ended.
Although some ofSuits’arcs in the finale were left open for continuation, they still felt well-rounded. Considering there’s a new show and there aren’t plans to add any original characters now, it seems the show’s universe is aiming for a different direction. Viewers may have wished for a longer ending toSuits, but the finale provided closure for the main characters and left room for a new story to be told in a new city with the announcement of Suits L.A.
